In some countries, drivers are advised that they only need switch on their lights from “half-an-hour after sunset until half-an-hour before sunrise.” This is idiotic, out-dated garbage dating back to when people thought the sole purpose of headlights was to allow a driver to see better. But the truth is that in ANY mediocre visibility or poor lighting conditions headlights are crucial to enable other people to see your vehicle approaching. Daytime Running Lights [DRLs] or low-beam headlights provide a major safety benefit if kept illuminated at all times — even on a gloriously sunny day!
