Objectives
Advanced Drivers of America, Inc., [ADA] has been founded to help enhance standards of driving, and of highway safety in general, throughout North America and beyond.
In particular, ADA seeks to introduce and emphasize the use of the “System of Car Control” as being the key to the highest possible levels of advanced, public-road driving.
It is our opinion that the phrase “advanced driving” is incredibly abused and misunderstood – it often being used to describe not only basic skills but also methods that are entirely inappropriate for use on public roads, such as racetrack techniques, as well as skills that can serve only to boost overconfidence, such as skid pad techniques. Research has shown that the result of training that seems to be a good idea, yet in reality is not, can be fatal.
Over a period of time, it is ADA’s goal to introduce a growing range of intermediate and advanced driving courses and to enlarge our team of instructors and examiners, in order to bring true advanced driving and true resultant safety to an increasing number of individuals as well as to corporate fleets.
The standards for such courses, testing and personnel will match as closely as possible those of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents' Association of Advanced Drivers [RoSPA/RoADA] in Britain – the highest level of advanced driver training available to civilian drivers anywhere in the world.
Six levels of qualification are being introduced by ADA, for individuals, one of which – the "Pass Plus" award – greatly enhances long-term safety for recently qualified young drivers. The remaining four levels – Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and ‘World’ – represent progressive stages from defensive driving through true advanced driving.
For our corporate clients, we offer scaled ratings for your personnel so that the safety of your driver fleet may be monitored and all necessary training instituted. We do not, however, offer skid pad or evasive-maneuver training because true advanced driving is NOT about trying to get out of a crisis after it has started, it is about being good enough not to get into danger in the first place. What we offer you, in the "Roadcraft System of Advanced Driving" is an unmatched methodology, first developed by the police in Britain in 1935 and continually refined and developed by the world-renowned UK traffic patrol police ever since.
In addition to our driving awards, Fellowship of ADA [“FADA”] is available to any member holding either an ADA or a RoSPA Gold award, and Honorary Fellowship [“Hon. FADA”] may be awarded to a limited number of individuals who might not have advanced driving qualifications but who have demonstrated exceptional dedication either to the enhancement of driving standards or to road safety in general.
