The Police Driving website provides a balanced and very safety-oriented view of law enforcement driving, and is well worth a visit.

See also our article about Captain Travis Yates.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, in the UK (i.e. RoSPA), has an Advanced Drivers Association for which the joint acronym is RoADA. This is an excellent source of information for anyone interested in driver safety.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of advanced driver training for all drivers in Britain, the Institute of Advanced Motorists [IAM] is another excellent source of information.

Advanced-Driving.co.uk is a good site that deliberately follows the Roadcraft approach to advanced driving and rightly shuns dubious practices (such as the spurious claim that speeding is acceptable as long as the driver considers it is safe). The Advanced Driving UK website is well worth a visit.

The DSAA is North America's largest association for driving instructors and certainly appears to set the pace, in terms of quality. If you or your loved ones are in the process of learning to drive, a visit to the DSAA website should be seen as being essential.

As one of Britain's largest insurance companies, Direct Line is nobody's fool when it comes to appraising results. It is therefore gratifying to read their statement that "statistics show that drivers who have passed their Advanced Test have a 50% to 75% less chance of causing an accident." The police driver training centre at Tulliallan, Scotland, is very highly respected in its field, and the website gives a small insight into advanced driver training for police officers in Britain.

Few law enforcement agencies, around the world, are as fortunate as the UK traffic police when it comes to the duration or the breadth of their driver training programs.
