Why choose Advanced Drivers of America, Inc., to provide you with enhanced driver training or advanced driving courses?
The first part of the answer is simple but important: True "advanced driving" has never existed in the USA prior to now; it is just a phrase that has been used and abused here, out of context.
As glamorous as one possibility might seem, true advanced driving has nothing to do with getting instruction from former racing drivers. Doing that is rather like asking an F16 pilot to fly a Boeing 747, full of passengers, to a vacation destination -- the two things may appear similar but definitely require different skill-sets. (As brilliant as they undoubtedly are, fighter pilots have to fully re-train before being allowed to fly commercial passenger jets.)
True advanced driving has nothing to do with the racing line through curves, or with swerving left or right at the last moment. The worst example of all - skid pad training - is a positively dangerous technique to teach to young drivers as it serves primarily to over-inflate an already excessive confidence level and the belief that "it will never happen to me." Research has shown that skid pad training significantly increases young drivers' crash rates, after the training is over.1
True advanced driving is about using good attitude, planning and skill in order to avoid danger altogether rather than trying to use dramatic evasion tactics in an attempt to get out of a deadly crisis that has already started.
The "System of Car Control" approach to advanced driving has existed and has been developed in other countries for more than 70 years for police drivers and 50 years for civilian drivers, and during that time it has constantly been refined and updated. ADA has now brought these top international standards in driver safety here, to the USA and Canada.
This "System" is based on the training and methods used by the traffic police in Britain - said by many to be the best-trained road drivers in the world; a claim based not only on the duration of the training but also on the comprehensive knowledge conveyed and the fact that it is carried out, at extremely high speeds, on public roads, among ordinary traffic. (Obviously, ADA does not include the "high speed" component in courses for civilian drivers!)
Choose ADA if you wish to protect yourself, your family or your personnel by using the most proven techniques and the safest road driving skills in the world.
Courses provided by ADA fall into the following categories:
All prices are per person. Please note that courses for individual members of the public are less expensive than corporate courses because ADA wishes to encourage ordinary people to get involved and become safer, and we therefore subsidize the cost.
Aimed at : 1. potential members who wish to know or discuss their standard before choosing a course; 2. young drivers whose parents require a realistic insight into their son's or daughter's driving abilities; 3. apprehensive drivers who seek qualified or independent opinion about how best to overcome various driving difficulties.
The choice between one hour and two hours duration lies with the client, but clearly a more thorough insight may be obtained in the longer session.
Aimed at people who have passed their driving test within the last two years and who wish to take their skills one rung up the ladder, not only to become safer but also to get an insight into what true advanced driving is actually all about. (And it is fun!)
Aimed at people who have passed their driving test but are still nervous or fearful about driving. This course deals very gently with either general or specific worries that individuals may have and allows people to see that they are certainly not alone. Many, many people come into this category. We must make it clear, however, that although we can help with the practical aspects of driving fears, we cannot assist with truly psychological challenges -- that is an area for expert help of a different kind.
A solid grounding in defensive driving for drivers who have a normal degree of confidence, but this course may also be adapted for apprehensive drivers, whose individual driving sessions will be tailored to their needs.
Aimed at drivers who have had at least two years' driving experience since passing their driving test and who now wish to dramatically enhance their ability and safety, as well as reduce the financial overheads associated with driving. (Please note that although this course is geared firmly towards success, a Silver Advanced award cannot be guaranteed and attaining the award will be dictated primarily by the relevant individual's attitude towards safety.)
Aimed at drivers who:
(Please note that although this course is geared firmly towards the top level of success, a Gold or even a Silver Advanced award cannot be guaranteed as the standard achieved will be dictated by the relevant individual's aptitude, ability and attitude towards safety.)
One-off or periodic assessments are an important part of ADA fleet driver training but the most important factor is that the training is based on decades of experience and development in the 'System of Car Control' approach to advanced driving and not just some haphazard mish-mash of elements that seem like a good idea! Graduates receive ADA 'Class One', 'Two' or 'Three' certificates although on very rare occasions they may also be rated as 'Unclassified' (if their driving cannot be brought above a basic safety level).
Due to popular request, ADA will send an instructor to your town to run one or more courses for you, your family, your colleagues or your friends (or any combination of those people). To benefit from this special offer, it is necessary for you to provide three trainees (not including assessment drives) per day for a minimum of five consecutive days. During those five days you could have, for example, a Bronze Course for three people and a Silver Course for three others; or you could have a Gold Course for the full five days.
